This policy explains what Black Matter VC, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("Black Matter", "we") collects when you use Diligence Desk from ChatGPT, Claude, Codex or another AI assistant. Diligence Desk has no accounts and asks for no personal information.
IWhat happens when you use it
Your assistant sends each tool request to Diligence Desk's server at diligence.blackmatter.vc. The request contains what the assistant chose to look up, usually a company name, a domain, or an SEC identifier. The server forwards that query to the public register it is meant for, and returns a trimmed version of the answer to your assistant.
- We do not store the content of requests or responses. Once a request completes, the company names and results it carried are gone from our systems.
- For each request we keep a call record: which tool ran, whether it succeeded, timing, request and response sizes, which network route was used, and a one-way hash of the assistant session. Call records contain no names, email addresses, IP addresses or request content. We use them to keep the service running and to see which tools are used.
- Your IP address is used to apply rate limits and is deleted automatically within a few minutes. Our hosting providers keep operational logs, which may include IP addresses and request URLs, for up to 7 days.
- We never receive your conversation with the assistant. We see only the tool requests it decides to send.
IIWho receives your queries
To answer a request, the query is sent to the public source that holds the record. These are government registers and public services, each with its own privacy policy:
| Source | What it is sent |
|---|---|
| SEC EDGAR (sec.gov) | Company names, CIK numbers and filing searches |
| GLEIF (gleif.org) | Company names and Legal Entity Identifiers |
| USAspending.gov (US Treasury) | Recipient names for federal award searches |
| Domain registries via RDAP | The domain names you ask about |
| GitHub | Organisation and repository names |
IIIInfrastructure
Diligence Desk runs on Plugferry, a plugin hosting platform also operated by Black Matter. Plugferry runs on Cloudflare (network and servers) and Supabase on Amazon Web Services (database, and a relay used to reach registers that refuse connections from Cloudflare's network). These providers process requests on our behalf and under their own security commitments.
IVWhat we do not do
- We do not sell or rent any information.
- We do not use any information for advertising.
- We do not use your requests to train AI models.
- We do not look up, profile or store information about private individuals. Diligence Desk researches legal entities, and the officers named in their public filings.
VRetention
Call records are kept for up to 13 months and then deleted automatically. Daily totals without any identifier may be kept longer to track usage over time.
VIYour rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by writing to michael@blackmatter.vc. Because call records are pseudonymous and carry no request content, we usually hold nothing that identifies you; tell us the approximate time you used Diligence Desk and we will check. We reply within 30 days.
VIIChildren
Diligence Desk is a professional research tool and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.
VIIIChanges
If this policy changes we will post the new version here and update the date above.
